Diploma qualification summary

To achieve a Foundation Diploma in Information Technology, learners must complete a level 1 principal learning qualification in information technology, a level 1 project qualification, level 1 functional skills in English, ICT and mathematics, and any valid combination of qualifications listed as additional and specialist learning that equal or exceed 120 guided learning hours.

Guided learning hours are the number of hours of teacher-supervised or directed study time required to teach a qualification.

The Foundation Diploma in Information Technology enables learners to progress to employment within the information technology sector and related industries. The qualification will also provide opportunities for progression to Higher and Advanced Diplomas, qualifications such as GCSEs, a range of further and higher education courses, and Apprenticeships.
