The level 2 Certificate in Event and Match Day Stewarding aims to provide the underpinning knowledge and assist in the development of a range of stewarding skills in accordance with general recommendations from the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds and, where appropriate, the specific requirements of the individual ground Safety Certificate.

The Certificate enables candidates to develop their understanding of the principles of the role of a steward and the application of such knowledge. Holders of this qualification may wish to use it as a stepping-stone to further qualifications. Candidates might use the qualification for progression on to a Level 2 or Level 3 N/SVQ in a related qualification. Achievement of an N/SVQ or individual units of the NOS for Spectator Safety can only be achieved via an organisation/college approved to offer the N/SVQ and/or appropriate units. Achievement will require the candidate to demonstrate their competence in fulfilling all the criteria of these standards, in the workplace and prove competency over a period of time.

The independent assesment component of the qualification is achieved via written multiple choice assessment which enables unit certification to be achieved in all three units.

The internal assessment conains a holistic approach to development of knowledge and competence and is is evident throughout all the three units of the qualification via cross referenced practical, simulated, work-place, knowledge and understanding tasks. These tasks can be achieved using the standardised assessment tools contained within the 1st4sport Candidate Pack (attached).
