Task-based controlled assessment
The 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Industry Awareness consists of two assessment components: an internal component, conducted by the candidates’ tutor/ internal assessor and an independent assessment component, assessed by a suitably occupationally competent person from the recognised centre, who has not been involved in candidates programme of training or internal assessment.
Internal Assessment Component
The following methods will be used by the tutor/internal assessor to assess candidates during their achievement of the internal assessment component of the qualification:
* Assignments and project work
* Oral questioning when required
The evidence for the internal assessment component should be stored in the candidate pack and the outcomes recorded in the Candidate Record of Achievement. Part One of the Candidate Pack provides a series of assessment tasks that have been designed to help candidates demonstrate that they have the appropriate knowledge and understanding. The recognised centre may choose to develop their own tasks, if this option is used the tasks will need to be equally challenging to meet the qualifications learning outcomes and assessment criteria and they will have to be checked to be so by the recognised centre's external verifier.
Independent Assessment Component
The independent assessment component of the qualification requires candidates to complete an independent theory paper that will then be assessed by persons meeting the appropriate criteria and who have not been involved in the candidates’ training or internal assessment.
Only candidates who successfully pass both internal and independent assessment will be eligible for certification for the qualification.
