ASET Level 2 Certificate in Emergency First Aid in the Workplace

Qualification summary

This programme is suitable for any person interested in developing skills and knowledge in emergency first aid, they may become an ‘appointed first aid person’ in the workplace.

Aim:

:To develop the first aid skills that are required to take initial action in dealing with health emergencies that may occur in the work place.

Objectives:

:Understand the requirements of legislation governing health and safety in the workplace and how it applies to a first aider.
:Develop knowledge and skills to enable the management of an incident until the emergency services arrive.
:Demonstrate how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation
:Respond to the needs of casualties who may be unconscious, suffer breathing difficulties or exhibit severe bleeding.
:Understand how to record information relating to injuries or illness.

Multiple Choice Examination
Practical Examination
Following feedback from centres, via a questionnaire, and chief assessor recommendation ASET propose to amend knowledge test to a multiple choice examination, externally set & marked (currently short answer questions externally set & internally marked with external moderation). Demonstration of practical skills (CPR, recovery position & control bleeding) remains externally set & internally marked with external moderation.
The multiple choice test will be one hour long and comprise 24 questions; leaners must achieve a minimum of 17 correct responses to pass, subject to an awarding process.
Learners will need to pass both knowledge and practical elements to achieve the ASET certificate.
