This qualification is designed for:-
•Those who wish to gain entry into employment in a supervisory role in a range of health and social care sector settings:
o Primary care
o Acute care
o Ambulance
o Mental health
o Learning Disability
o Independent

•Individuals employed as care workers seeking promotion to supervisory roles or undertaking continuous professional development
•Advance modern apprentices as the programme is approved as a technical certificate.

The aim of the qualification is to provide the knowledge and understanding required by learners to enable them to work effectively in supervisory roles within health and social care settings.

The broad objectives are to:-
•Encourage the learner to reflect upon and evaluate his/her own knowledge and skills so identifying learning needs and achievements
•Enable the learner to build on previously gained communication skills
•Allow the learner to contribute to the planning, monitoring and evaluation of care packages.
•Develop the learner’s abilities to promote, monitor and maintain a healthy, safe and secure culture within a care environment
•Encourage the learner to promote the protection and well being of individuals in a care setting.

This qualification is suitable for learners already in employment or those considering a career at supervisory level in health and social care or individuals wishing to undertake nurse training following the common framework programme.
The programme is suitable for staff employed in the Health and Social Care Sector to ensure continual professional development.
This qualification enables progression to Level 3 and 4 NVQs such as;
• L3 NVQ in Youth Work
• L3 and 4 NVQ in Health and Social Care
• L3 and 4 NVQ in Learning, Development and Support Services for Children, Young People and those who care for them.

Coursework
All units to be internally set and marked assessments, externally moderated by ASET. Please note that unit 3 has been amended to internally set and marked, moderated by ASET (from internally set, externally validated, internally marked and moderated by ASET).

Suggested forms of assessment include short tasks, written assignments, case studies and research projects.
Learners must complete all units from Group A plus one unit from Group B.
