The ASET Level 3 Award in Assessing Candidates Using a Range of Methods is suitable for the person who assesses NVQ candidates using a diverse range of assessment methods.
This Award is appropriate for trainers, instructors and those whose job role involves:
• Assessing candidates against agreed standards of competence using a range of assessment methods
• Giving candidates feedback on your assessment decisions
• Contributing to the internal quality assurance processes

The objectives of this qualification are to enable assessors to:
1 Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates
2 Judge evidence against agreed standards to make assessment decisions
3 Give candidates feedback and support on your assessment decisions
4 Contribute to the internal quality assurance process

Learners can progress onto the Award for assessing candidates' performance through observation (A2). Learners who have successfully been an assessor for a minimum of one year within the previous two years can progress onto the Level 4 Award in Conducting Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process (V1)

ASET complies with the Learning and Development Strategy, approved 2002. Independent assessment is via external verification procedures documented in ‘ASET NVQ Centre Guidance 2005-2006’, which was banked with QCA as part of the agreed Part ‘A’ Submission to run NVQs. Centres will need to ensure robust quality assurance of assessment via internal verification procedures specified by ASET.

Assessors and their learners should take advantage of instances when a piece of evidence may prove a learner’s competence across several elements of criteria.
One mandatory unit comprising four elements of competence:
A1.1 Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates
A1.2 Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
A1.3 Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions
A1.4 Contribute to the internal quality assurance process
