ASET Level 2 NVQ in Retail Skills
Qualification summary
NVQs at all levels will allow candidates to apply knowledge, understanding and skills to a national occupation level required by employers, thus proving competency in their job role.
This NVQ is appropriate for sales advisors, customer service advisors, product experts or similar roles. Candidates must successfully complete 6 units to gain the full NVQ. There is one mandatory unit covering behaviours, working effectively in a retail team, plus 5 optional units covering areas of sales, stock management, product expertise, merchandising, visual merchandising, finance and administration, customer service and organisational effectiveness. A maximum of one unit can be chosen from Level 3 to form part of this NVQ furthering the candiates learning.
Progression can be made from this qualification to the NVQ in Retail L3 which will then offer 3 specialist pathways or to a range of vocationaly related qualifications. In the workplace it will open up promotional opportunities within the industry sector.

ASET complies with the Retail Assessment Strategy, approved August 2007. Independent assessment is via external verification procedures documented in 'ASET NVQ Centre Guidance', which was banked with QCA as part of the agreed Part 'A' Submission to run NVQs. Centres will need to ensure robust quality assurance of assessment via internal verification procedures specified by ASET.

Candidates must complete a total of six units: the compulsory unit in Group A, plus a further five units from Group B, Group C or Group D. At least four of these must come from Groups B1 to B9, and one further unit from either Groups B1 to B9 or the Level 1 units in Group C or the Level 3 units in Group D (units D5 - D9 cannot be taken if D1, D2 or D3 have been taken at Level 2). Candidates cannot choose units from both Level 1 and Level 3.
Only one unit in Group B8 can count towards the qualification when chosen from units D.1, D.2 and D.3.
