ASET Level 3 NVQ in Retail

Qualification summary

This NVQ will allow candidates to apply knowledge, understanding and skills to a national occupational level required by employers, thus proving competency in their job role.

This NVQ has been designed for department, section and team leaders, specialist sales advisors, owners/managers. With this in mind the NVQ offers 3 pathways for the candidate:

• Sales Professional
• Merchandising
• Visual Merchandising

Candidates must complete 6 units to gain the full NVQ which will be endorsed related to the pathway chosen. There is one mandatory unit covering behaviours, working effectively in your retail organisation, plus 5 optional units covering areas of management, stock management, product expertise, sourcing, merchandising, management and leadership, finance and administration, developing people, customer service, organisational effectiveness, visual merchandising and product expertise. A maximum of one unit can be taken from Level 2 to form part of this NVQ.

Progression can be made from this qualification to a Higher Level qualification in Retail, alternatively it could lead to promotion within the Industry sector.

ASET complies with the Retail Assessment Strategy, approved August 2007. Independent assessment is via external verification procedures documented in 'ASET NVQ Centre Guidance', which was banked with QCA as part of the agreed Part 'A' Submission to run NVQs. Centres will need to ensure robust quality assurance of assessment via internal verification procedures specified by ASET.

This qualification provides pathways to the following qualifications: Level 3 NVQ in Retail (Sales Professional); (Visual Merchandising); (Management).
All candidates must complete the unit in Group A.
For the Sales Professional pathway, candidates must complete a further five units from Group B. At least four of these must come from Groups a to i, plus a maximum of one can be chosen from the Level 2 units in Group j. Only one unit in Group h can count towards the qualification when chosen from units D.5 - D9.
For the Visual Merchandising pathway, candidates must complete a further five units from Group C. At least four of these must come from Groups k to m, plus a maximum of one can be chosen from the Level 2 units in Group n.
For the Management pathway, candidates must complete a further five units from Group D. At least two of these must come from Group o. Only one unit in Group w can count towards the qualification when chosen from units D.5 - D9.
