ASET Level 3 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector (QCF)
Qualification summary
This qualification is aimed at those currently working, or interested in working in the lifelong learning sector as an associate teacher, trainer or tutor. It meets the sector standards set by LLUK from September 2007 for those in the profession as associate teachers, who may teach in a variety of locations including FE colleges, Adult and Community Learning Centres, Training Providers or other organisations both public and private.
The ‘associate teaching role’ does not require the teacher to demonstrate an extensive range of knowledge, understanding and application of curriculum development, curriculum innovation or curriculum delivery strategies. This is defined by the Further Education Teachers’ Qualifications (England) Regulations 2007.
The Qualification aims to provide the learner with:
- An initial teaching qualification which has generic recognition in the sector for associate teachers
- A qualification tailored to their intended career path, allowing the learner to undertake specific modules and specialist topics as required
- Practical experience in teaching and preparing for lessons.
- An introduction to the theoretical principles of teaching and the teacher's role including learning, evaluation and assessment
- Personal and professional development in communication, interpersonal skills and ICT.
