Qualification summary
Aim:
• To train candidates to a professionally competent level, enabling them to plan and
deliver safe and effective group and individual physical exercise sessions for children
aged 5 to 11 and/or children under the age of 5 years.
Objectives
• To develop candidates’ knowledge of anatomy and physiology and how it relates to
exercise and fitness and children’s development.
• To develop candidates’ ability to plan and deliver safe and effective physical activity
sessions for children.
• To develop candidates’ knowledge of the ‘generic induction standard’: for example
health and safety, child protection, building relationships.

Independent assessment, i.e. external assessment, exists in unit 1, in the form of a multiple-choice question paper.
