Active IQ Level 3 NVQ in Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise
Qualification summary
This Qualifications supports the role of an Advanced Fitness Instructor in the context of Gym, Exercise to Music and Personal Training. It also provides additional specialist units for those who wish to diversify their skills into such areas as Specialist populations, older adults, pre-post natal, GP referred Clients, disabled etc.

This NVQ provides candidates with a progression route from the Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training, Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Instructing (Gym and Exercise to Music) and is assessed in the workplace.

Centre Training Days are provided for all approved centres where we give guidance on holistic assessment practice for all NVQs - this is supported by Assessment Guidance for NVQs document.
Independant assessment is not required for this NVQ as external verification of assessment practice, assessment decisions and portfolio sampling will be provided by Active IQ.
The Active IQ Level 3 NVQ in Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise can be achieved in the contexts of:
Level 3 NVQ in Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise (Gym);
Level 3 NVQ in Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise (Group Exercise);
Level 3 NVQ in Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise (Yoga).
For Gym or Group Exercise, candidates must complete units D437, D438, D439, C313 and D440 from Group A (D438 and D439 have specific evidence requirements depending on whether Gym or Group Exercise is chosen).
For Yoga, candidates must complete units D437, D438, D439, C313 and A318 from Group A (D438 and D439 have specific evidence requirements for Yoga).
It is not compulsory to complete any of the additional units in Group B to achieve this NVQ.
