The DipABRSM Performance Diploma is designed to reflect day-to-day experience as a performer, whether amateur or professional. Candidates will be able to demonstrate their skills as a soloist and once completed and passed, will act as a valid prerequisite for entry into an LRSM examination. The DipABRSM is acknowledged by music services throughout the world. It is compatible with systems of assessment widely applied in higher education and encourages lifelong learning, without restrictions on length of study or the requirement that the candidate is taught in an institution.

This qualification is assessed entirely independently with continuously monitored examining techniques and training. The Diploma Board Code of Practice is attached and outlines all moderation processes and the consistency of this qualification.

There are no guided learning hours appropriate for this qualification as it is not a taught course and is approached through self study.
All units in this qualification are mandatory: The second unit has two sections within it, section 2.1 and 2.2.
  • D/501/0604 - An Instrumental or Vocal recital
  • H/501/0605 - A Viva Voce, entailing a discussion with the examiners. The Viva Voce follows the Rehearsal and Performance section of the exam
  • K/501/0606 - A written assignment relating to candidates Rehearsal and Performance programme in the form of Programme Notes
  • M/501/0607 - A Quick Study - to perform a short piece of unaccompanied and previously unseen music of a standard similar to ABRSM Grade 6 repertoire.
