Meat and Poultry Plant Operations
Qualification summary
This qualification comprises six mandatory units covering: contributing to health and safety in the workplace, to meat hygiene requirements, to effective working relationships and to the operational effectiveness of equipment; complying with quality specifications; dealing with waste. All candidates must complete a further three units from one of the specialist groups which cover handling livestock, slaughtering livestock, and handling and slaughtering poultry.

Candidates take all units in Group A together with all the units
from either Group B or Group C, OR three units chosen from those
listed Group D (a total of nine units for the NVQ).
