Each award provides a progression from the previous grade which itself subsumes the learning that has gone on before. Post Diploma (Level 4) there are opportunities for progression through the BTDA dance teacher registration procedures (currently) and through the proposed dance teaching awards, also at Level 4. Possibilities of progression are both vertical (upwards beyond Level 4) and horizontally (within Level 4), but each award is a complete award and not a unit. Beyond Level 4 these awards provide opportunities for progression to HE (first degree in dance, performing arts, sports physiology etc.) such progression however is dependent on the learner gaining the requisite academic qualifications for entry into higher education. It is quite usual for people gaining these awards to work professionally, the normal route being through audition. Such work includes the performing arts, theatres, cruise ships, promotion and marketing. One of the important qualities implicit in these vocational awards is the development of personal confidence which means that people completing these awards find employment in areas where interpersonal skills are important.
