Qualification summary

Financial Services sector regulation requires financial advisers in the UK to be appropriately qualified. This award is recognised as a qualification that will allow staff with no other financial services qualifications to meet this requirement and so to obtain a 'licence to practise'. The qualification is designed to ensure that wherever a financial adviser is located in the UK they have access to the same high quality educational input and assessment opportunities. It has been developed with input from employers from accross the sector. This ensures that the content provides students with the knowledge they require in order to meet current and future career/regulatory requirements.

This qualification had been designed to enhance pathways for students both within the qualifications framework and the professional and regulatory qualification and CPD framework of the ifs School of Finance. The Certificate for Financial Advisers provides students with the necessary knowledge and understanding to enable them to move onto other qualifications at the same level eg the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Planning with which it shares two common units, or on to higher level qualifications such as the Diploma in Financial Services Management offered by the ifs.

There are no entry requirements for CeFA and students may study and enter for the examinations regardless of educational background or age.

Multiple Choice Examination
External assessment applied to all elements of the award. All units are assessed by means of computer based, multiple choice tests using either stand-alone items or items linked to case studies. Assessment items and tests are created by the ifs School of Finance working in conjunction with its team of appointed subject experts from the industry.
