Qualification summary
This level 3 qualification covers technical needs for today’s motor vehicle repair industry, including diagnosis and rectification procedures for major accident damage. It provides essential knowledge for the body repairer working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body repair shops.
It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:
• Removing and Replacing Body Panels
• Repairing Body Panels
• Rectifying Vehicle Misalignment

If employed in a suitable role, candidates can progress from this qualification to the IMIAL NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Body and Paint Operations or the IMI (Automotive Skills) Body and Paint Advanced Apprenticeship (for which the NVQ Level 3 forms an integral component).
This qualification forms the technical certificate component of the IMI (Automotive Skills) Body and Paint Advanced Apprenticeship.

Independant assessment takes the form of online multiple choice test set and marked by IMIAL and practical assessments set by IMIAL, marked by the approved centre and moderated by IMIAL

IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Body and Paint Operations (Body Repair)
IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Body and Paint Operations (MET/Body Fitting)
IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Body and Paint Operations (Refinishing)
Students must complete all units in Group A and the Group B of their chosen pathway. An additional unit is also available for the BR pathway (Group C).
