Qualification summary

This qualification covers activities within the motor industry that relate to fast fit technicians working on a wide range of vehicles in garages, dealerships and fast fit businesses.

The qualification covers the basic technical needs for today's motor industry:

All aspects of health & safety, maintaining positive relationships and good housekeeping
Removing and replacing of components from vehicle systems: engines (fuel & ignition systems), transmissions (gearboxes & final drives), brakes, steering, suspension and vehicle electrics (batteries, starting & charging)
Understanding of how the above vehicle systems work
Other skills that may be required are:

Identifying faulty components: engines, gearboxes, axles, batteries, alternators and starter motors
Repairing tyres and carrying out tyre related adjustments
Valeting vehicles

Candidates must complete all units from Group A and four optional units form the Group B of their chosen pathway.
