Qualification summary

The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Management aims to give practising or potential managers the foundation for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by developing basic middle management skills and assisting participants in gaining the basic knowledge required at this level. This qualification builds on the ILM Level 5 Award in Management, and broadens the skills and knowledge in a flexible and practical way. Candidates are not required to undertake the Award as a pre-requisite and may join Certificate programmes directly.

Candidates who successfully complete the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Management can progress onto the ILM level 5 Diploma in Management, ILM Level 4 S/NVQ in Management, ILM Level 5 S/NVQ in Management, ILM Level 6 Award in Executive Management, ILM Level 7 Award in Executive Management, ILM Level 7 Award in Strategic Leadership, ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Management, ILM Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Leadership,
ILM Level 7 Diploma in Executive Management, ILM Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Leadership, ILM Level 7 Diploma in Executive Management and Strategic Leadership, or another qualification at a suitable level within or outside the National Qualifications Framework or the Qualifications and Credit Framework.

Practical Demonstration / Assignment
Participants must meet all the mandatory assessment criteria, and the assessment criteria for the selected optional units in the qualification. All mandatory assessment must also be successfully completed.

Participants must also successfully complete the minimum amount of credit specified for the qualification, including the minimum hours for induction and tutorial support, as specified in the Qualification Specifications.
Participants who have successfully completed units in this qualification which are also contained within other qualifications or which have been achieved in isolation as Certificates of Unit Credit will be granted exemptions for these units.

Candidates must complete 4 Mandatory Units with a combined credit value of 14, and a combination of optional units (of which at least 8 credits must be at Level 5 or higher) that brings the total credit value up to 30.
