As indicated, the qualification enables candidates to complete the academic stage of training towards becoming a Fellow of ILEX. The qualification enables candidates working towards Legal Executive status within a law firm to begin to take on enhanced roles with increased responsibilities (sometimes fee earning).

The Legal Executive route is an established and well-recognised route for individuals who may wish to become solicitors. There is significant evidence to suggest also that the qualification provides an essential service to individuals working in the not-for-profit sector who deliver specialist legal advice.

The qualification delivery is flexible and is the accepted route for those individuals wishing to combine work and study in becoming a lawyer.
