The qualification provides a detailed understanding of the organisational structure of the trade union and the ways in which a trade union can improve organisational effectiveness. The qualification will provide a progression route to higher level qualifications and will also enhance higher level organisational management skills.
The integration of the workplace element is vital to the achievement of this qualification.
For the achievement of the NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Trade Union Organising Academy, the learner must achieve 60 credits. A minimum of 36 credits must be achieved from mandatory units at Level 3, with 9 credits achieved from optional units at Level 3. An additional 15 credits must be achieved from optional units at Level 2 or Level 3.
Providers should note that the 34 qualifications making up the Trade Union Education and Training unit framework have GLH identified within a common structure to ensure that learners receive adequate support for successful achievement. All Awards require a minimum of 50 GLH, Certificates require a minimum of 120 GLH, Diplomas require a minimum of 360 GLH.
The GLH identified on individual units reflect the notional learning time values because of the integrated work place related nature of Trade Union education. Therefore, the GLH values on units will not combine to produce the GLH values for the whole qualifications as described above.
