The qualification provides a detailed understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a trade union representative. The emphasis is on developing tutor skills to support trade union education and training. The qualification can provide a progression route to other qualifications related to professional tutor training qualifications particularly for adult learners.
The integration of the workplace element is vital to the achievement of this qualification.
For the achievement of the NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Trade Union Tutor Training, the learner must achieve 30 credits. A minimum of 18 credits from mandatory units at Level 3 must be achieved, with a minimum of 12 credits being achieved from optional units at Level 3.
Providers should note that the 34 qualifications making up the Trade Union Education and Training unit framework have GLH identified within a common structure to ensure that learners receive adequate support for successful achievement. All Awards require a minimum of 50 GLH, Certificates require a minimum of 120 GLH, Diplomas require a minimum of 360 GLH.
The GLH identified on individual units reflect the notional learning time values because of the integrated work place related nature of Trade Union education. Therefore, the GLH values on units will not combine to produce the GLH values for the whole qualifications as described above.
