Discovering creative potential
Unit summary
The purpose of this unit is for students to explore and learn from the output of professional practitioners in the Creative and Media industries. This will enable them to gain an appreciation of the work of others as a basis for developing their ideas.
Students will have the opportunity to develop their own ideas combining two disciplines appropriate to their study. This will allow the student to demonstrate how the work of others can be a source of inspiration in developing ideas. Students will present the outcome to an audience and must both review their own work and get feedback from others. They should use the review and the feedback to improve their work.
Students will understand the importance in the Creative and Media sector of developing ideas from existing sources and using fellow professionals as influences. They will also explore issues relating to copyright and intellectual property (IP) and the implications of these within the Creative and Media sector.
