Exploring the UK Hospitality industry

Unit summary

The aim of this unit is to introduce learners to the hospitality industry, as one of the fastest growing and most exciting industries in the UK. Learners will come to understand the importance of the hospitality industry to the UK economy. They will explore hospitality at both a local and national level, gaining an insight into the size of the industry and the different types of setting in which it operates and is affected by changing trends. Learners will also start to understand how to speak the language of hospitality, using its basic terminology correctly.
This unit will stimulate learners’ interest in discovering what careers the industry offers and the varied activities it encompasses.
