Unit summary
There are many different breeds of dog recognised by the Kennel Club (K.C.), and many different breeds of cat registered with the Governing Council of Cat Fancy (G.C.C.F.). Each breed has its own characteristics and some are more popular than others. In this unit you will learn how to recognise different breeds of dog and cat and know something about how they originated.
You will also learn how to bath and dry a short coated breed of dog in the correct way and why grooming is important to an animal’s health and well being.
This unit is important if you want to work in a kennels or cattery, as you will need to be able to recognise different breeds of animals, as well as having some knowledge as to how to groom a dog correctly.
