Contributing to Care Planning and Effective Use of The Environment
Unit summary
In this unit the learner will explore the health and social care provision for individuals who, because of their needs, require their care to be planned.
Learners will be introduced to the methods used for assessing the individuals’ needs and the range of support services that could be included. They will study the purpose of the care plan, the type of information required to plan care, the importance and relevance of a full assessment prior to producing a plan of care, the need to ensure that the approach is centred to the individual and how an holistic approach to planning care is justified.
The framework of legislation, policy and codes of practice that influence care practice is addressed.
This unit provides an opportunity to discuss some of the complexities around decision making and supporting the individuals’ interests.
An appreciation of what constitutes the care environment and how it influences care practice will help the learner to improve care for individuals under his/her remit. This unit identifies the various components of the care environment and develop an understanding of how they relate to the delivery of care services. On completion the learner will have greater confidence in recognising and understanding the needs of individuals in a care setting and how these should be planned for.
