Emergency first aid in the workplace
Unit summary
This unit is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required for a learner to become a first aid appointed person in the workplace. The learner will gain an overview of the legal requirements for the provision of first aid in the workplace. They will learn how to take charge when someone is injured or falls ill including calling an ambulance if required.
Learners will be able to demonstrate how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, control bleeding and place a casualty in to the recovery position. They will gain knowledge of how to manage a casualty until a trained first aid provider arrives.
