In this section of the exam, candidates are required to perform a short piece of unaccompanied and previously unseen music of a standard similar to ABRSM Grade 6 repertoire.
Before candidates perform the Quick Study, they will be given five minutes in which to look through the music and to try out any parts of it.During this time the examiners will not be assessing you. Singers may play the key-chord and first note of the Quick Study on the piano before they begin their preparation, and as often as they wish prior to the test
itself. During the test, singers who need to relocate their pitch may play a guide note as appropriate. Singers must sing the text, which will always be in English. In total, the Quick Study lasts up to 10 minutes.
