SQA Level 2 NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles

Qualification summary

The SQA Level 2 NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles is designed to provide those who already work as Goods Vehicle drivers (or those working towards their licence) with evidence of their driving ability.

Designed with the needs of the Goods Vehicle industry in mind, it allows candidates to demonstrate competence in:

Pre-driving checks (including the use of tachographs) and monitoring the loading of goods;
Driving skills whilst driving a goods vehicle that is laden with their typical load;
Driving safely with acceptable wear and tear on the vehicle;
Unloading goods vehicles, coupling and uncoupling vehicles.

This qualification is internally assessed and externally verified.

The Units of Competence making up the NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles include evidence requirements and assessment guidance.

External quality control is achieved through an effective external verifier sampling process together with an annual approved centre risk rating system. External Verifiers have no links with the centres being verified.
Candidates must complete all of the units units in Group A, Mandatory Units.
Candidates may complete additional units from Group B, but these are not a
requirement for the award.
