The qualification provides a structured route towards the diplomas in music performance and teaching offered by TVU / LCM Examinations, and by other awarding bodies.

The qualification provides a solid foundation for students applying for music college or university music courses, and grades 6-8 are incorporated into the UCAS points tariff.

It also provides a progression route towards employment opportunities in performance and instrumental teaching.

Graded music exams also offer transferable skills: candidates will have demonstrated high-level planning and preparation skills, the ability to communicate effectively to others, and that they can perform under substantial pressure.
