EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC Award in Vehicle Immobilisation

Qualification summary

The Private Security Industry Act 2001 requires that all operatives working in various parts of the private security sector are licensed. The main aim of this qualification is to enable an individual who has achieved it to apply for their licence to practise as a vehicle immobiliser. To that end, it has been designed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority's "Specification for Core Competency Training and Qualifications for Vehicle Immoblisers".

There is a direct progression into employment as, without a recognised qualification, vehicle immoblisers will be unable to obtain their SIA licence.

This qualification is assessed by means of two externally-set and marked tests.
