Qualification summary

This specification in Applied Art and Design encourages students to develop broad skills, knowledge and understanding used in the art and design sector. The term 'vocational' is used to characterise learning approaches and activities that are work related- in other words reflecting the current working practices, constraints and preoccupations of professionals in the art and design sector. The personal work and materials presented in a candidate's portfolio need to demonstrate this vocationality. In addition, the portfolio is the basis for progression to higher education.
