Qualification summary

The specification will aim to develop:
• an understanding of the impact of information and communication technology on society and organisations
• an awareness of the economic, social and ethical implications of the use of information and communication technology
• the ability to analyse critically the use of information technology systems
• the ability to analyse problems that could be solved or tasks that could be completed with the use of information and communication technology, and to identify how information and communication technology can be used to solve these problems
• problem solving skills through the practical application of information and communication technology
• interpersonal skills necessary for communicating and working with others
• the ability to reflect critically on the effectiveness of solutions created and personal performance
• the ability to adopt standard ways of working
• the ability to work independently.

• Employment: the specification aims to maintain and support the recognised standards demanded for information and communication technology, education and training in order to meet the requirements of various information and communication technology sectors.
• Related qualifications in the National Qualifications Framework: the specification enables students to progress to other information and communication technology related qualifications such as NVQ Levels 3 and 4.
