Qualification summary
The CACHE Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care provides a National Vocational Qualification for learners who work with or wish to work with children and young people in a health and social care setting. It provides a qualification for those working in roles that call for competence across a varied range of responsibilities, and provides the values and principles that underpin the National Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care at Level 3.

Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners can progress onto a related Level 4 qualification or a Foundation degree. The CACHE qualification encourages lifelong learning.

Assessment for NVQs is an ongoing and holistic process. Holistic assessment enables assessment planning to reflect the learner's workplace practice. It enables workplace practice to provide evidence for the whole qualification rather than just one unit at a time.
Assessors are the primary source of observed evidence. Evidence can also be provided by expert witnesses for optional units. This evidence will be judged by the assessor to ensure its suitability for the portfolio. Any other type of evidence can be used to support the direct observation.
Internal and external verification will take place in accordance with the relevant regulatory requirements, published by the regulatory authorities for the relevant country. The specific requirements for assessment of units imported from relevant sector bodies are incorporated into the assessment process. Independent assessment is practiced when this is indicated in the requirements from the sector body. Independent assessment is not indicated for this qualification.
To achieve the CACHE Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People), learners must complete 8 units in total; this includes 4 mandatory core units and 4 optional units. Additional units may be selected for professional development in the future but cannot be counted towards this NVQ.
