Qualification summary

The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills and competencies required by those who work within the Business environment and provide support within that environment.

Success in this qualification will recognise the candidate’s ability to carry out their responsibilities at work, acknowledging a range of business administrative activities from supervising an office facility to planning and implementing innovation and change as well as recognising specific IT related activities such as the use of spreadsheet software or website software.

The hierarchy of for levels - 1-4 - provides a ladder of progression from those with little or no administrative experience through to the recognition of the skills and competencies of experienced, senior administrative workers.

Some learners may choose, or be encouraged, to acquire the NVQs in Administration in addition to NVQs in other work-related areas (for example Retail, Customer Service, Accounting, IT and other technical sectors).

Independent assessment is supplied internally at the City and Guilds centre by the internal verifier and externally by the City and Guilds external verifier. The Business and Administration NVQ is structured to lend itself totally to holistic assessment.
Candidates must complete all units from Group A plus four optional units, of which at least three must come from Group C.
