Qualification summary
The Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Award in the Delivery of Conflict Management Training is
designed to provide:
• training for those working in the security sector or similar industries who have a
responsibility to provide conflict management training to others
• opportunities for personnel who train in the security sector or similar industries to achieve a
nationally recognised Level 3 vocationally-specific qualification
• the knowledge, understanding and skills that learners need to provide effective conflict
management training
• opportunities for learners to focus on the development of the major key skills and the wider
key skills in a security and conflict management context, such as improving own learning
and performance, working with others and problem solving
• opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and
attitudes that are essential for successful performance in a training environment.

Achievement of this qualification will provide the opportunity for progression onto Level 4 qualifications, for example the Edexcel Level 4 BTEC Professional Award/Certificate in Instructional Techniques, as well as onto relevant qualifications in the specified sectors.
This is a requirement for trainers in Conflict Management as per SIA regulations.

Edexcel will sample assessors’ decisions using subject-specialist external verifiers. This process
will follow the National Standards Sampling (NSS) protocol as set out in the NQF BTEC Levels
2/3 (including Short Courses 1-3) Handbook (updated annually).
Unit 2: Scenario-based Learning and Training in Conflict Management will be subject to NSS.
Centres will be required to make available work produced by four learners in response to an
assignment, this assignment having been designed to provide evidence for the assessment (in
whole or in part) of this unit. This learner work must have been internally assessed, and at least
50 per cent of it must have been internally verified.
