IFS Level 2 Intermediate Certificate in Personal Finance

Qualification summary

The Intermediate Certificate in Personal Finance has been designed for people who are , or shortly will be, starting on a period when they can no longer depend on others for their financial provision. Students will learn about the legal and practical constraints on the sources and uses of money; the methods of organising money through detailed personal budgeting; the considered use of appropriate bank and building society accounts and the concept and consequences of foreign exchange. They will achieve this by learning about the various legal sources of money including earned income, inheritance, selling and borrowing; banking including saving, borrowing and automated banking tools; and the causes of exchange rate fluctuations.

Although it can stand as a qualification in its own right, the qualification will also provide access to the level 3 Certificate in Financial Studies and, should a student wish to pursue their learning in this area, the Diploma in Financial Studies. The Certificate and Diploma in Financial Studies carry UCAS Tarriff points and would therefore contribute towards a learner's entry to Higher Education should this be their aim.
