EDI Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care

Qualification summary

The EDI Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care will enable learners to demonstrate they have a knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care sector.

The qualification has been developed to be recognised as a technical certificate within the Apprenticeship frameworks and as such covers the underpinning knowledge and understanding of the core units within the Level 2 Health and Social Care NVQ.

There are two mandatory units, each assessed by a multiple choice test:
Unit 1: Develop knowledge, practice and communication skills within a care setting
Unit 2: Understand how to care and protect individuals within a safe care environment

When undertaking a qualification that does not appear on the governments' lists as eligible for funding for specific age ranges, users must be aware of legal requirements. Not all qualifications are suitable for all age ranges.

This qualification has been developed to be a recognised technical certificate and so will enable learners who are working towards the Apprenticeship Framework in England, to achieve a relevant and up to date qualification. As a result the qualification will enable learners to progress in their careers in the Health and Social Care sector and to work towards the Apprenticeship and then potentially progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship frameworks.

Learners could also progress from this qualification onto a Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care or a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development.
