EDI Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care

Qualification summary

The EDI Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care will enable learners to demonstrate they have a knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care sector.

This qualification has been developed to be recognised as a technical certificate within the Advanced Apprenticeship framework and as such covers the underpinning knowledge and understanding of the core units within the Level 3 Health and Social Care NVQ.

There are 2 pathways at this level leading to either the EDI Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care (Adults) or the EDI Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People).

Both pathways have a total of 3 units each assessed by a multiple choice test. Units 1 and 2 are generic to both pathways. Learners on the Children and Young People pathway also need to take unit 3, whilst learners on the Adult pathway need to take unit 4. The units are:
•Unit 1 Use personal, interpersonal and professional skills to deliver a care service
•Unit 2 Promote individual’s health, well-being, safety and security in a care setting
•Unit 3 Promote the well-being and protection of children in a care setting
•Unit 4 Promote the well-being and protection of adults in a care setting

This qualification has been developed to be recognised as a technical certificate and so will enable learners who are working towards the Advanced Apprenticeship Framework in England to achieve a relevant and up to date qualification. As a result it will enable learners to progress in their careers in the Health and Social Care sector and to work towards the Advanced Apprenticeship frameworks.

Learners may also progress onto the Certificates in Children's Care, Learning and Development.

All units will be assessed by a multiple-choice test and verified by EDI
