EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Health and Social Care

Qualification summary

The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Health and Social Care is designed to
provide:
• education and training for those in the Health and Social Care sectors with a
responsibility to provide care for others
• opportunities for learners in the Health and Social Care sectors to achieve a
nationally recognised Level 2 vocationally-specific qualification
• opportunities for full-time learners to gain a nationally recognised vocationally
specific qualification to enter employment in the field of Health or Social Care or
to progress to further vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC
Certificate in Health and Social Care
• the knowledge, understanding and skills learners need to progress within the
health and social care sectors
• opportunities for learners to focus on the development of the major key skills and
the wider key skills, such as improving own learning and performance, and
working with others, in a Health and Social Care context
• opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal
qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

The qualification links closely with the Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Firsts in Health and Social Care. Candidates can progress from the BTEC Firsts to this qualification, or from this qualification into the BTEC First. Additionally, candidates can progress onto the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Health and Social Care.

Practical Demonstration / Assignment
The qualification can be internally assessed via Portfolio of Evidence or Practical Demonstration/Assignment and quality assured using National Standards Sampling. The qualification will be internally assessed and externally verified.

Alternatively, it will also be possible to assess the qualification holistically through one multiple-choice (computer-based) test set and marked by Edexcel.
All four mandatory units are required
