EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC Award in Law and Legal Work
Qualification summary
The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award in Law and Legal Work is designed to provide:
• opportunities for those involved in the legal sector to achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 vocationally-specific qualification
• opportunities for full-time learners to gain a nationally-recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the legal field or to progress to further vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Award in Legal Work
• opportunities for learners to focus on the development of the major key skills and the wider key skills, such as improving own learning and performance, problem solving and working with others, in a legal context
• opportunities for learners from a diverse selection of backgrounds to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life, and to allow them to access employment opportunities in the legal sector.

Progression is possible to the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Award in Law and Legal Work, and to other Level 3 Edexcel qualifications such as the BTEC National Award in Business. Because of the balance of legal knowledge and practice in the qualification, completion of the qualification will benefit applications for work or employment in the legal sector.

Law and Legal Services
In the Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award in Law and Legal Work all units are internally assessed. Centre assessment will be externally verified through the National Standards Sampling process.
The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award in Law and Legal Work is a 90–hour qualification consisting of three units of 30 hours each.
To achieve the qualification, a learner must successfully complete one core unit and two specialist units from a choice of five.
