OCNW Level 3 Certificate in Supervising Health, Safety and Welfare within the Workplace
Qualification summary
This qualification will be for anybody who has the responsibility for direct supervision of an employee within a work environment.
The qualification aims are:
To understand the responsibilities as a supervisor in relation to an employee's health, safety and welfare.
To know how to ensure that the employee understands his/her responsibilites and what is expected of him/her in relation to own health and safety and the health and safety of others.
To understand how to provide supervision to ensure that the learner follows safe working practices.
To know how to support the employee in the work place to ensure that risks to his/her health and safety are adequately managed.
Ensure that legal requirements for health and safety are met.

Supports the learner to be more effective in carrying out their responsibilities in terms of the health, safety and welfare of employees within the workplace. It is aimed at learners already working as a supervisor within the workplace, or aspiring to this role.

The units of this qualification are assessed through the learner putting together a portfolio of evidence. This is assessed by the assessor. Internal moderation is then carried out in the centre, across tutors and different groups of learners. An OCNW external moderator then confirms the assessment decisions and that internal moderation has been carried out.
This is a two unit qualification, both units are mandatory.
