OCR Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care
Qualification summary
The OCR Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care is unit based and has been developed to recognise candidates’ understanding of the core knowledge requirements within the Health and Social Care sectors.
The qualification provides accreditation for candidates wanting to gain employment in the Health and Social Care sector and those who work in Health and Social Care who want to improve their knowledge. The knowledge that candidates gain through this qualification is transferable to the NVQs in Health and Social Care.
This qualification is suitable for those who are:
• wishing to prepare for employment in a job that involves Health and Social Care
• starting work in a job that involves Health and Social Care and wishing to learn essential knowledge and understanding at the same time as learning the job
• already experienced in a job involving Health and Social Care and wishing to update their knowledge and understanding
• undertaking the technical certificate.
The qualification will be submitted for approval as a technical certificate in Health and Social Care following accreditation.

The OCR Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care supports progression and will enhance the current provision of the NVQs in Health and Social Care.
The qualification will be submitted for approval as a technical certificate in Health and Social Care following accreditation.
This qualification allows for progression to and from OCRs’ existing portfolio of related qualifications and will complement other vocational and general qualifications. Progression routes will be identified within the Centre Handbook.

Health and Social Care
All units will be centre assessed and externally moderated. For each unit, candidates will be required to produce evidence to demonstrate that they have met the assessment objectives identified in the specification for the unit.
This qualification comprises one group of mandatory units. To achieve the qualification, the candidate must successfully complete all four mandatory units.
