Qualification summary

City & Guilds have developed a fresh suite of up-to-date suite of qualifications, with a consultation team drawn from top music studios. The outcome of this development is a new contemporary industry and vocationally-based qualification, with respected skills outputs. All the skills in this qualification are a requirement for employers and employees alike. The consultation team will provide regular skills audits and updates to the qualification so as to retain the currency of the content of the units.

The aims of this qualification are to:

• meet the needs of candidates who work or want to work in the music technology and sound engineering sectors
• support Government initiatives towards the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

Clear progression will be available for candidates from Level 1 through to Level 3, whilst a current customised Level 4 Sound Engineering qualification will cater for students attaining higher levels.

Multiple Choice Examination
Practical Demonstration / Assignment
One assignment per unit and a synoptic on-line multiple-choice examination (marked by City & Guilds) covering the mandatory units to attain the overarching award. The assignments will be marked by the centre with guidance from City & Guilds and externally verified.
Learners must complete six mandatory units and six optional units.
