EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC Award in Support Work in Social Care

Qualification summary

This qualification has been developed from the knowledge set developed by Skills for Care. The intention of the knowledge set is to provide learning outcomes and content to benchmark the training requirements in this subject. The qualification provides the underpinning knowledge required in support work not involving direct care and it is envisaged that learners will go on to develop competence in the subject within the workplace achieving NVQ units as appropriate.

The qualification is suitable for those working in health and social care and health settings where support work not involving direct care is important. It is also relevent for those who wish to transfer to occupations where these issues arise.

The qualification will exist within the Level 3 BTEC National Certificate and Diploma in Health and Social Care, therefore the award will facilitate transfer into a nationals programme. It is envisaged also that learners will progress from the award into NVQ units where they will be able to certificate competence. Learners should thereafter be able to progress to the Level 2 NVQ in Support Services in Health, Level 2 NVQ units in Health and Social Care and Level 2 NVQ units in Health dependant on their job role.
