When undertaking a qualification that does not appear on the governments' lists as eligible for funding for specific age ranges, users must be aware of legal requirements. Not all qualifications are suitable for all age ranges.
The Welsh Baccalaureate provides opportunities for candidates to progress from the Intermediate into the Advanced Diploma, further education and training or employment.
This is an overarching diploma where the Options and the Key Skills are also standalone qualifications. The Core, including the Individual Investigation, is internally assessed and externally moderated.
This is an overarching qualification comprising a Core and Options. The Core has four components- 1) Key Skills 2) Wales, Europe and the World 3) Work-related education 4) Personal and Social Education. The Options consist of those vocational or academic programmes, such as GCE A level, NVQ level 3, BTEC National Certificate (12 units), chosen by the candidate.

Although part of the WJEC Level 3 Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma, the Key skills and Options are also qualifications in their own right.
