EDEXCEL Level 3 BTEC National Award in Children's Care, Learning and Development

Qualification summary

The purpose of the BTEC Nationals is to provide a learning experience that is focused on the learner, enabling learning that draws on the experiences of learners but that is closely linked to the vocational sector. Therefore work experience and links to the workplace form a central part of the programmes.

The aim of the qualifications is to provide a basis of knowledge which covers the Common Core for learners who wish to work in the Children's Care, Learning and Development sector. Specialist units provide the opportunity to tailor programmes to specific vocations or for the exploration of more specialist aspects of job roles within the sector. The BTEC Nationals have been developed with close reference to the National Occupational Standards in Children's Care, Learning and Development to ensure that learners will have a firm grounding in the principles of children's care when they progress to employment.

The aim of the Level 3 BTEC National Award in Children's Care, Learning and Development is to provide a vocationally related qualification that draws on the main themes of work in the sector. Its size means that it can be combined with other vocational or academic qualifications and thus enable learners to tailor their learning experience to meet their own specific requirements.
