Qualification summary

The aim of the Edexcel Level 3 NVQ in Custodial Care is to provide an occupationally-related qualification for people employed in custodial environments with direct contact with prisoners, eg prison officers working in HM Prison Service and the Northern Ireland Prison Service, immigration detention, military corrections, and immigration detention. This qualification allows candidates to develop the competence, knowledge and understanding to perform their jobs effectively, and to enhance their career prospects.

All assessed work is subject to internal verification (IV) procedures, whereby work is sampled on an ongoing basis by appointed IVs. External Verification takes place on a regular basis, and assessor and IV decisions are sampled.
