EDEXCEL Level 3 NVQ in Business-Improvement Techniques

Qualification summary

The Edexcel Level 3 NVQ in Business-Improvement Techniques is aimed at those in the engineering sector who wish to improve productivity and cut waste in the production/provision process. It should enable candidates to identify solutions to problems, standardise operations or seek improvements to processes.

The Level 3 NVQ in Business-Improvement Techniques has been designed to cover those people who:

- are employed as supervisors, team leaders or facilitators and are responsible for carrying out Business Improvement activities

- are being prepared through Continuous Professional Development to take on staff responsibilities in a Business Improvement environment

- require a more in-depth understanding of Business Improvement practices and can be at any level in the business organisation.

Edexcel will ensure equitable and fair delivery of NVQ assessment and verification in Business-Improvement Techniques by carrying out standard external verification and regular risk assessments in each assessment centre.
This qualification accreditation number provides pathways to the following qualifications:

Level 3 NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques (Process Improvement);
Level 3 NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques (Quality Improvement).

All candidates must complete the three mandatory units in Group A.

For the Process Improvement pathway candidates must complete all mandatory units in group B1 plus one optional unit from Group B2 plus two optional units from Group B3 (these units can be selected from the Quality Improvement pathway).
(Note: whichever unit (6 or 37) is selected from Group B2 cannot be selected again as one of the two optional units required from Group B3).

For the Quality Improvement pathway candidates must complete all mandatory units in Group C1 plus three optional units from Group C2 (two of these units can be selected from the Process Improvement pathway).
