When undertaking a qualification that does not appear on the governments' lists as eligible for funding for specific age ranges, users must be aware of legal requirements. Not all qualifications are suitable for all age ranges.
This specification provides a suitable foundation for the study of Health and Social Care or a related area through a range of higher education courses (e.g. Health and Social Care, Community Health Studies, Nursing (registered)); progression to the next level of vocational qualifications (e.g. NVQ Levels 3 and 4 in management); or direct entry into employment. In addition, the specification provides a coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study for candidates who do not progress to further study in this subject.

AS Single Award - 2 Mandatory Units 1 & 2
Internally assessed units = 60% weighting
Externally assessed units = 40% weighting
AS Double Award - 2 Mandatory Units 1 & 2 plus 2 AS options ( one from 3, 4 and one from 5, 6)
Internally assessed units 2, 3, 4 = 30% weighting
Externally assessed units 1, 5, 6 = 20% weighting
A Level Single award - 3 Mandatory Units 1, 2 & 7 plus 1 A2 option (one from 9, 10, 11, 12)
Internally assessed units 2, 9, 10, 11, 12 = 30% weighting
Externally assessed units 1, 7, = 20% weighting
A Level Double award - 4 Mandatory Units(1,2,7,& 8) plus two AS options (one from 3 & 4 and one from 5 & 6) plus two A2 options (two from 9, 10, 11 or 12)
Internally assessed units - carry 15% weighting: 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12
Externally assessed units - carry 10% weightings: 1, 5, 6, 7, 8
