EDEXCEL Level 3 NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

Qualification summary

The purpose of this qualification is to enable candidates to gain recognition for competences achieved in supporting teaching and learning at level 3. The qualification draws on the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, developed by the Training and Development Agency for Schools. These NOS cover teaching assistant roles as well as roles involving supervision, pastoral support and supporting inclusion. The standards reflect the six themes of the Common Core of Skills and Knowledge for the Children's Workforce. These themes underpin working practice for the whole children's workforce.

Candidates can progress into associated NVQs including the Level 4 NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development and the Level 4 NVQ in Learning, Development and Support Services for Children, Young People and Those who Care for Them.

The qualification is internally assessed and verified but externally verified by Edexcel according to the NVQ Code of Conduct.
Candidates must complete all units in Group 1, plus four units from Groups A - E (total 10 units). No more than two units may be taken from Group E (B5 and B6 leadership units may not both be taken).
